A Wedding On A Battlefield
Watch trailer ►
A lighthearted comedy about men with their heads in the clouds, the sinful temptations of love, and one wedding that nearly ended up like the Battle of Waterloo.
In the small Moravian town of Zvěstov, all the men live and breathe historical battles. They portray the French army, led by their mayor Touchyn (Bolek Polívka), who has held a monopoly on the role of Napoleon for years. This time they are preparing for a major event: the unveiling of a Napoleonic fountain in the neighboring town of Podolí, with television and journalists in attendance. The mayor of Podolí, however, has bad news for Touchyn: this time he has hired a real foreign actor to play Napoleon, one who actually looks the part. Touchyn takes offense and decides to boycott the ceremony. He persuades the people of Zvěstov to do the same, even though they are sorry to have rehearsed for nothing.
At this same time, Tomáš, the son of the local chronicler, returns to town after more than two years away. Tomáš has always been a ladies' man adored by every girl in town, but this time he has come to tell his father that he has truly fallen in love and wants to get married. He has promised the charming French woman Claire a secret, romantic wedding in the local chapel. But his father lets Tomáš's secret slip at the pub, and Mayor Touchyn has a brilliant idea: this is after all a major international event, so no quiet ceremony will do! The village organizes a grand wedding for the couple, complete with French troops and Napoleon himself. And so things begin to unfold.
